Ribbon Falls in Yosemite from this past June. Taken from the southwest end of the valley around 15 minutes after sunset. All C&C is greatly appreciated.

Wonderful Jonathan. The lines in the rock framing the waterfall work very well. I like the contrast the slope gives. Cropping a square by removing the slope is also interesting; not better, just interesting.

I really like the contrast of the elements Jonathan. The rock wall adds to the verticalness of the falls. The only thing I might have tried is to move the falls off center. Original view, nice work.

Nice perspective here, and the trees add good contrast.

Jonathan, I appreciate your composition with the rather tight crop accentuating the vertical. It stresses the forces of the mighty fall aptly in my opinion. To my eye, the diagonals in the upper and lower part counteract each other well. Thanks for sharing.

Wonderful shot of the falls Jonathon. I really like the scale created by the trees on the slope, and all those vertical lines are great.

Nice job Jon. Good to see your work. If that trip to the Valley yielded this kind of results I'd like to see more.

This is a very nice shot of one of Yosemite's hidden jewels that is not often photographed. Nice detail, and I like the soft, bluish light.

Great composition. The geometry of the rocks compliment the fall. Trees add some contrast, color, and sense of scale. SS gives it that ethereal feel. Nicely done.

I love this, Jonathan. The composition is very straightforward and effective, and it captures the beauty and grandeur of Yosemite wonderfully. Excellent work.

Jonathan,

I don't like to generalize or make statements like this, BUT I have to say that I think this is the best image of Ribbon falls that I can recall seeing. I know I've only photographed it twice in all the years I've been going to Yosemite. I'm guessing that this would be awesome in a large print because I think there's just a very little bit of compression data loss going on - but then that's expected with this little web images.

I think what makes this so striking is the long exposure for the water which I think makes a great contrast to the micro details, cracks and texture of the granite walls and to some extent, the trees at the bottom. I just think this is wonderful. Congrats!

Powerful waterfall image! :toast:

I like how you can see some depth of how it goes into the rock. :toast:

This is nicely abstract with its angles and movement, Jonathan. I like it quite well.

Thank you to everyone for the comments. I was hoping to come back with something relatively unique from that trip. I knew that was a hard call in Yosemite, in particularly in the valley itself, but I am very glad that many of you find this shot appealing.

Thanks again.
