I don't know what kind of seed pod this is, but I thought it made a nice subject. It was taken in the Black Hills. Thanks for your comments.

Good details, Richard  - I am certain I have this flower before, but the name eludes me now. Repeating patterns look interesting to me.

What's up with that ISO 250700  ?

The thumbnail doesn't do this justice Richard. I might like a touch more dof on this but I wouldn't want to weaken the the bg any either. So... Neat subject, well captured and presented.

Richard: The head reminds me of goatsbeard with all of the seeds spent and blown away. I've seen them in Badlands NP so that's a possibility. Regardless of the ID this is terrific and a good illustration of how you can have a good subject even when the flower is spent. Well seen and captured. >=))>

Well seen and captured Richard. I also believe it to be a spent goatsbeard, but not sure. I also tthink a tad meore depth would help.

Perfectly caught, Richard - the dof seems spot on to me, just allowing for a blurring at the furthest edges. Lovely to see this unusual subject.
