Storm on the Lake

This was the storm I was trying to outrace in my last post. After taking this shot I just stood and watched the clouds over the lake, feeling the breeze on my face and the smell of rain on the wind. I'm glad I had a chance to experience the moment and not just photograph it.

This is very nice. I can understand you wanted to outrun it though
The play of light on the water and mountains is beautiful giving some cropping options. The one chosen is superb but there might others, like a pano on the lower parts, cutting most of the clouds.

Unusual and pleasing light, especially for the dark colors.
Enough silhouette remains for definition and the cloud texture was a great capture.
Not sure it I would like it lightened ever so slightly on the left upper.
Good work.

Love it. I would not change a thing. It reminds me of the Whitsunday Islands in AU and a morning shoot I had there years ago. Cool! :toast:

Dean, I enjoy the dynamics of the clouds and the way you contrast their texture to the metallic surface of the sea. Your composition leads me comfortably through the different areas of interest.

Fabulous storm clouds, Dean. The inner layer of blue is quite interesting. Lots of mood and drama. I like the quality of light reflecting off the water.

Fine capture. The sheen and color of the water gorgeous and a strong contrast to the sky.

Oooh nice Dean. I liked the look of the thumb, but opening it and seeing the beam with its splash of light is wonderful. It's hard to nit on a photo like this, but cropping some off the right and top brings a little more emphasis to the action in the center and bottom left.
