Taken yesterday before work at the Arboretum in Maple Valley, WA. How does the bg look. Not the smoothe bokeh I usually go for but the clock was ticking and I didn't have time for another shot. Thanks for looking.

I really like the way this worked out with a little more detail in the background to give this more of a setting. Works very well for me. Great colors with the blues and greens together.

Beautiful image Bruce. The bg works fine for me. You've still got good separation for the subject and It's kind of nice being able to actually tell what's there. I think the purple and violet would pop a bit more if the bg were darker but that's pretty subjective.

I think your DOF works well - the BG is still well separated from the flower. I especially like the slightly backlit blooms on the main plant.

Hi Bruce, this is nice! I like the bokeh...and the steps of blurred lupine blooms. My only contributory thought...take or discard..on the bokeh would be to clone out the brighter sun spots...more mono tone. Ken S

Thanks for the comments.
Ken-I did do a lot of cloning to remove bright spots, so much in fact I though it might be noticeable, some were large areas.

Bruce, I think the separation from the BG is handled quite well. Really well done.

Background works just perfectly here. I specially like the inclusion of the leaves at the bottom - they help strengthen the composition a lot in addition to the gentle curve of the stem holding the flowers.

I think especially the lines of the background make it work really well here, and the light in the entire image is beautiful.
