A Touch of Gold

Reflected light deep inside of a remote slot canyon in N.E. Arizona.
I'd like to thank my pal Joe Rossbach for walking right by this one, allowing me at least one original image.

You can see a few more from this place at the RMNP forum.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Excellent abstract of light and colors. I love the textures and exposure of this image. Did you think about cropping our the ground that sticks out in the lower left side? The textures of the rest of the image is so consistent that this bit of different textures draws your attention. Overall a very good image...quite artistic.

Beautiful shot, John, particular with the golden light on the canyon wall. I did have the same thought as Jay about the small area in the corner but that's quite minor. It's an exceptional image.

Thanks!
I share your concern about the canyon floor there, Jay. Not sure how I would crop it out without losing any vital parts of the image, though.

One of the most original slot shots I've seen, not easy to do. Congrats! :toast:

Very good composition where light is as much a feature as the subject itself.

Well done John! I;m curious about working to separate the tones and emphasize the line top right, Its the only empty space and may add some interest...or not..can't really tell. Still a striking and well done image! :toast:

John, this is excellent. The bottom part actually gives the illusion of reversal of depth creating a really cool tension through the photo from bottom to top. Great eye to see this! Your procesing and exposure are spot on as usual. Very, very nice.

This is super cool  I am on board for this image! The fact that it is unique, and not the typical images you see from this area ! This composition makes me want to slip through the sliver of opening on the left to see what else is in there! Well done :toast:

This has one of those "magic eye" feels to it John, where it appears to be 3D. That is some really lovely glow and the processing only accentuates this w/out being too much. The other images deserve to be displayed as well, although many viewers will probably just associate them with Antelope. Curious if the rattlers you stumbled upon were indeed baby rattlers, or the infamous Midget Faded Rattlesnake found on the Col. Plateau?

Beautiful color and glow! Nice lines too. It's always nice when someone walks past something and leaves it for you. My wife does that all the time. I stop and she doesn't realize it until she figures out I'm not there, and have not been listening to her for the last few moments or so!

How about "Orange Crush?" Gorgeous glow and lighting here John that truly accentuate the evocative forms of this little section of the slot. I don't mind so much the presence of the canyon floor, it does provide a reference. And I'm sure you have other comps - can't imagine being there and only grabbing one image.

I also like that you've left the entire edge in tact on the left despite the tight space. I think that is working very well in this image about light and form. Well done!
