Western Tanager
by Craig Strand
Before transitioning to Nature Photography nearly 10 years ago, I was a wild bird carver for over 30 years. As a carver this was my favorite non waterfowl bird with the males brilliant breeding colors. I shot this one at the local Nat'l. Wildlife Refuge this past week. I even watched one do an inflight 360 degree flip and land with a fly in his beak.
