Love the "loaded wing" shot here Wayne. Beautiful blue sky BG and superb light-the iridescent greens are killer!

I like the light you got on this bird Wayne. Nice position too. Those wing feathers are great with all the colors. In the larger version there is some noise showing up in the shadows under the wing closest to the viewer and in the BG. I might run a tad of NR on the BG if this were mine.

Great pose and eye contact. Nice and sharp. You don't mention the crop, but there is some noise that makes me think it is large-given the D3's capabilities.

Great wing position! Good catch of the elusive irridescent greens, too.
If it were mine, I'd clone out a small bit of the tree so the part right below the wing does not intersect it - just a personal nit.

Yes, this is a fairly large crop, I tightened it for web. If I print it I'll back it off some for comp. There is no noise reduction used here, btw.

Really like the flight posture and light to show off that iridescence Wayne. Sharpness on the enitire bird looks very good. Don't think you needed 1/8000 and wonder about your ISO - perhaps that's the source of some of the noise.

Looks great to me,Wayne. Apparently the noise level is the only indicator of a large crop here and I personally don't find it objectionable. Wonderful exposure and pose.

Nice & sharp, great exposure & light Wayne..Like how you've picked up those metallic colors of the inside left wing here.
I especially like the POV and comp with the cypress tree in front.
Well done!

Terrific flight shot. I, too, really like the iridescence of the greens on the wing.

Very interesting flight shot with the shadow and iridescent green showing on the wing. Good timing to get this, way to go.

Fabulous. Love how the green foliage echoes the green in the feathers in color and texture.
