AMOY Full frame flight

This is from early Saturday morning. The pair of oystercatchers with the two new chicks are busy finding food for them. I positioned my boat between their nesting island and foraging area (they are about 1 mile or so apart) and waited for them to fly by. On one pass this bird came right by the boat. I like the light, flight position, details, and BG in this shot. I especially like the detail in the head and feet areas. This is full frame. Please view the larger version for max details. Thanks so much for looking and commenting.

Great image. Fantastic detail stem to stern. Wonderful color and light. Great separation from the watery background.

Terrific flight shot - excellent detail and exposure on a difficult B&W subject.

I don't know how this one could be any better Ron. Detail is excellent and the light/exposure on the head is magnificent. Wonderful background too and all this at FF in a flight shot. Exceptionally nice IMO.

Gorgeous flight shot. Such a terrific subject, and you certainly didn't miss the great opportunity. I love the detail on the larger version, down to the wrinkles on the feet,

I would be pretty happy if this one was mine. You did well on handling the whites and blacks. Great detail and real nice flight pose. Well done.

Very impressed with getting this full frame Ron. Lovely light on the bird bringing out the colours of the beak and eye. Sharpness and dof are excellent. Don't see how you can improve on this type of shot. Graham

One really nice flight shot. A really colorful bird against a great background and light. Yes, excellent detail in the head and feet area.

Wow!. Ron I can see why you like this image. The detail is great and your efforts deserved to be rewarded. I also like the details in the blacks and whites. A challenge at best. Well done!. :toast:

Sometimes you never know what to expect when you look at the small thumbnail then go to the larger version. In this image once I opened up the larger version my first reaction is "Wow, what detail and full frame at that". Excellent job Ron, techs and IQ are first rate, well done. :toast:

Excellent flight shot of the Oystercatcher. I like the positions of the wings, the sharpness of the image, and the dark BG that highlights the vivid color of the eye and beak.

It's certainly a significant accomplishment to obtain such a fine shot with excellent composition in full frame when the bird only made one pass near your boat. Congratulations, Ron!

Very, very nice Ron. Raised wings, bird turning slightly to peek at the photographer, doesn't get much better than that.

Superb framing given that you didn't crop! I agree with your points, though the background is maybe not my favourite.
