Was it hot that day Steve? The sunrise is bright but if your trying to portray a desert canyon sunrise where the cool of night is surrendering to the heat of another day, you nailed it.

Magnificent light Steve! Very effective exposure. I especially like the backlit flora.

Very nicely done, Steve. I really like the glow look on the redish underside of the palms.

I like the overall image, but the sun is just a bit bright for me.

I born in Tecate, Baja California
Many year ago, Baja California Norte changed it's oficial name of Baja California Norte to Baja California, so we have two states with similars names:
1) Baja California and 2) Baja California Sur,
I mention this only as a curious

Hey Enrique, thanks. You're my updates on Mexico! I guess it's lower baja and lower lower baja. I drank Tecate in Tecate and stocked up on food there, but no tour of the brewery. It's a much faster crossing there.
I'm heading down there again soon!

This light looks impossible, Steve, but you aced it for sure. The back glow is sure sweet.

Beautiful shot Steve. Seems a tad on the flat side on this uncalibrated monitor. Looks like gorgeous terrain.

I've been loving your Baja shots Steve, seems like you had a great trip! The backlighting on the palm fronds here is killer.

Impressive work with light, Steve. The mid ground detail against that of the back lit palms provides enough separation to almost create a 3D effect.

I have relatives in Tecate, they have one of the largest ranches in that place,
Vizcarra family is widely known in Tecate
What part of Mexico waiting to visit on your next trip?

Steve,
Great work with your "Oasis" images so far. I might be inclined to drop the highpoints just a tad, but that's just me. Nice job handling the sun and the tough light. Certainly looks like an oasis in an otherwise inhospitable place.

The backlit palms really take on a 3D feel. You did a good job holding back the brightness of the intensely bright sky. I find the upper left corner a bit dark, but I completely understand why you've processed it this way.
Your bus-top video on youtube was crazy!

What a fascinating location! Love the back lighting. Remarkably not much flare trouble here, excellent job with the exposure.
