Oberburgfeld - Scouting

A fellow photographer from switzerland, Stefan Grünig, told me about this place in the swiss alps. It's famous for its sea of crocus in the spring time. So one friday afternoon I drove to Beatenberg and then hiked to Oberburgfeld. Stefan told me very well how to get there. Well, I guessed the time wouldn't be the best to take photography that day since it had been snowing the days before but I thought it's still a nice trip for some scouting and with a little bit of luck I could take some shots. Unfortunately there was still snow on that small road just above the village of Beatenberg so i had to park my car on the roadside and hike from there all the way up to Oberburgfeld. When I finally made it to Oberburgfeld, there were still some patches of snow and the crocus blossoms were closed......so not really something to photograph........so I was scouting the area.........this is one of the pictures from that day/evening......

Bill, your composition with the diagonals in the background and spotted colors in the foreground works well for me! My eyes are led comfortably through the image to the points of interest in the near and in the distance. The last sunlight on the summits lets me experience the serenity of this evening in the mountains.

I agree with Peter's comments. The light is a little harsh, especially in the background.

Hopefully you will be able to make it back here when there is some better light and flowers. Looks like a place with lots of potential!

Bill, I really like the top half of this image with its depth, diagonals, and multi-hued layers.

Bill,

This is a very nice mountain landscape. I wouldn't say the light is harsh; other than the sunlit peak, it looks rather diffused to me which is usually good for color. The patch of snow isn't really doing much for me other than giving us a bit of flavor of the time of year and conditions. You've got a complimentary sky and I think this is captured quite well.
