Salmon Brook Saturday

With an 8 month pregnant wife there's not a lot of time to shoot for fun. This was a sneak shot with wife happily napping in the car yesterday. Salmon Brook in central NH after a week of daily rain. Rivers up and the black flies are biting.

40d, Tokina 12-24, 30 second exposure at f14. Hope you enjoy.

Scott...great comp my man!! We're lucky to live in New England would you say? Gotta love that new growth, and yes we've had our share of rain this year. Best of luck with your new born. Keep up the great work. :toast:

Scott...certainly a bright side to all this endless rain. New England is the new Seattle. Great shot here...sharp and contrasty!

Very nice image. The water has a very surreal effect to it. Nice comp.

Scott - The water is just perfect with the chjosen shutter speed. It has been rendered like flowing carmel. The greens just pop. The larger version looked a tad oversharpened for the web, but a beautiful comp.

I really like the comp here Scott with the water flowing down through the frame. The water looks great for a 30s exposure. Nice spring greens as well.

Thanks everybody for the kind words. Harry, I think you are right on. The larger version was overcooked. Wish I could repost it. Here's one a little bigger than the original.

Very pretty Scott. I love the saturated greens against the dark forest interior. I wish the shutter speed had been faster, but that's just my personal preference. Well done.

Repost looks very good! I'm with Bill on the shutter speed but that is personal preference of course. Either way, excellent shot.

Scott,

Beautiful spring river scenic with one fabulous composition. Most of the time we see the single river flowing horizontally, but I'm really liking the little tributary feeding the main river; just a wonderful, flowing composition.

The original and larger version look a bit "heavy" to me. Just slightly, ever slightly heavy in contrast, saturation and even sharpening. I say slightly which means that puts this in the personal preference category and not necessarily a nitpick.

Great job in handling the water with the long shutter speed and keeping the whites in check. Great job!

Beautiful composition here. The splash of red flowers is lovely with the lush greens.
