Trying to incorporate all the excellent suggestions I've had on these water shots. In this one, I think overall the dof is good, there is a focal point to bring the eye into the image and a bit of "reality" in the pebbles, and I think less of the image is oof. (that's the hard part of shooting through moving water.) Please correct me if I'm wrong and this one doesn't work. Thanks for looking.

Nancy Lea, this is a challenging image to look at and I'm having trouble understanding why. After viewing for several minutes, I think there's competition between the bright golden swirls in the upper third and the gold and brown ripples of the bottom two thirds. I think each one of those areas or sections of those areas might work on their own. One of the big challenges in making interesting photos is what to include and what to exclude and many times it's the parts left out that help the most.

Ok. Lets try a pano crop and see if it helps. It does seem to reduce the tension in the image a little. any thoughts?

Yes, that is much easier on the eyes. There's some balance between the squiggly lines in the LRC and the bright area in the ULC.

Nice abstract. I like the crop a little better but only that is seems a bit brighter.

Where is the gold color coming from. Leaves I'd guess. When I see images like yours here, it seems to be a personal thing with me that some element of the image must be absolutely recognizable. I would have guessed those were pebbles at lower left but (again a personal thing with me) they are not recognizable enough to satisfy me. But Nancy I think I know you enough to think you will understand that if it means something to you and if it doesn't grab me it is a difference in our vision of the image.
