(c) Northern Harrier
by Jenaya Launstein
This picture is from The Raptor Center, which is located in the University of Minnesota. My dad and I were on a trip to Minnesota and Wisconsin, on the way back we went to the center and got to take pictures of different raptors. The worker brought this female Northern Harrier out of her enclosure so that we could take pictures, and then fed her a piece of meat. It was really fun to see and photograph all the different raptors!
This is full width, but we cropped a bit off the bottom and added some canvas above her head. We cloned out the enclosure as it was kind of distracting, and we liked this background way more. I would appreciate knowing what you think about the crop.
Right after I posted I saw that there is something on the top of the image, I don't think it is actually in the image as it is not in the larger version.
Thanks for looking and commenting!

Wonderful eye contact and sharp focus on them, however, I agree with Cheryl as to wishing for a bit more DOF to show more feather detail in the body. I also agree that the cut off legs present a bit of a distraction. In a perfect world scenario, I'd prefer this shot or cropped in landscape with the bottom edge of the frame running horizontally across it's chest and the top edge of the frame being pushed higher up, I would also hope to see the left and right hand edges of the frame showing more of those marvelous wings.
I very much enjoy looking at all your image Jenaya, and for all I've said, this one's no exception :^)
