Carnation abstract

Been away from the forums for awhile as I made the switch from PC to Mac....a rather steep learning curve for a technology challenged old timer like me but well worth the effort. I am using an iMac and had read going into the switch that this computer's screen was difficult to calibrate. I'm using a Spyder 3 and would appreciate any feedback as to color casts, contrast, brightness, etc problems that you may be seeing.
Thanks in advance.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the colour etc as far as I'm concerned, Mark. The curves are beautifully abstracted from the complex forms of a carnation ( don't quite know how you've managed that ! ) - lovely image.

Oh, and congratulations on the Mac - believe me, you won't regret switching ( smile ).

Mark,
I really like the lines, the high-key effect, the dof choice that makes this image ethereal. No nits from me. :toast:

Mark, I admire your courage in switching from PC to Mac. I'd rather go hiking in Glacier National Park without bear spray! As to your image, I love the beautiful shades of pink in the image and the soft curves of the petals.

Carol....I've backpacked in GNP without bear spray and comparing the two, you're right, the bear "threat" was easier to deal with. :wavey:

Can't speak to color casts in this image, but the flow of the pink lines is great. It's a very dreamy image. Having been a Mac user since 1985, I'm sure you'll enjoy the ease of use once you get used to a different way of doing things. I've used both the built in Mac calibration routines and a Sypder 3 and don't see much difference on my monitor when I switch back and forth between calibration profiles.

Good looking stack work Mark. I love the lines in this and the wash throughout the rest of the image.

I've been using a Mac since I started photography a little over four years ago and am very pleased with it. The colors in this look good on my MacBook Pro. I don't see a caste of any kind. Beautiful image.

Mark:
I switched to Mac about 6 months ago and it took awhile to get use to it. I like the touchpad with my iMac; more intuitive than mouse.

The image is fabulous. Really like the curves made by the pink petal edges. :toast:

I love this natural abstract image, Mark. Carnation is not an easy model for photographers; for me at least. Simple composiition, delicate color, selective focus: all beautiful.
Take care.

hey Mark, really nice image. I have never made a successful closeup of a carnation. Too many competing petals and lines. You have solved that problem in a unique way. Great high key work. :toast: :toast:
