I just returned from a fantastic trip to the Southwest. I met up with Michael Greene for 4 days and had a great time in the Page area. Also spent some time in Escalante and VoF. Quite a few images to share, especially as I'm getting the new images ready for print.

Thanks for helping me in the process!

First up is a detail of a large boulder in Valley of Fire State Park, an amazing playground of sandstone.

Wonderful, Justin. The rocks details are amazing and the change in color creates an intense palette here.

Fabulous colours Justin, I love the elephant which appears to me to be using his trunk to stick a bun in his mouth!!!.

Very nice shot Justin. Love the warm palette of colours, warm reds through to cool reds (do cool reds exist  ). I Like Ian's vision, I see it too.

Beautiful patterns and color gradient. I didn't see the elephant until I read Ian's comment; now it's almost obvious. Amazing what people can see in an abstract photograph.

Very nice! Great tones and I love the kind of melted quality the sandstone has in this comp.

Justin, what a catch. I mean, the place has so many photo opps. I love climbing on the formations there, it's like being spiderman! The way you have framed the shapes in the rock is so fascinating. The gradation of color change is even better.
Nice.

Awesome abstract here. I like the transition from warm to cool tones as well as the contrasting color layers. There a lot of interesting shapes and contours. It's kind of like looking at a 3-D topo map. Well seen, composed and captured!! :toast:

Beautiful abstract Justin! I like all the different lines and colors. It's hard to get a sense of scale but maybe that's what I like about it.

VoF is a crazy place, but I have not seen too many good shots from there. This one definitely works - I am unsure abt the bottom, but the rest of it is wonderful

Wonderful color gradation and some cool sandstone texturing. I don't think you need this much foreground here as it distracts from the more abstract nature of the scene. It's great to see something original from this area!

Interesting patterns and color gamut you have seen. From my perspective, I would consider lightening the bottom gradient and cropping just above the brighter rock bottom center.
