Till the River Runs Dry

This was the last piece of film I had available at the end of the day. I had photographed these cypress trees before, but the light felt good, so I stopped what I was doing downstream and moved to this spot on the Mountain Fork River at Beavers Bend State Park in Oklahoma.

My brother-in-law is Garth Brook's banker and so we gave him a 20x24 print of this for Christmas a couple of years back.

Garth came back to the office last year with Trisha in tow and introduced her to my brother-in-law and said "It's your brother-in-law, right? The guy to shot that picture you gave us? Everyone loves that picture...", which was my first confirmation that it didn't end up in some roadie's apartment, so I was happy. :)

Tachihara 8x10, Nikon 480mm, Velvia 50, 120 seconds at f-90.

Can't say any critique to it Michael. It is well worth framing and hanging on the wall!

Very nice, Michael. Wonderful soft light and atmosphere here to lend some separation to the layers. Seems to be tilted CW just over 1 degree, but otherwise not a thing I would change.

This is nice - the shapes of those trunks really add a lot to the beautiful fall colors and reflection.

I love the color palette here, Mike. I bet it looks amazing in print. I agree with Marc about the slight tilt.

When I saw the thumbnail, my first impression was what film like color, and, sure enough. Great colors! Surely this has a wonderful timelessness to it. My wife has an old family cabin on Grand Lake, OK, we spend a week every year at. This definitely captures the essence of what I have experienced in the area. Lovely work!

Lovely colors. I like that you have cypress both in and out of the water here. Good sense of depth throughout as well.
