African Wilddog -Captive

To see Wilddogs is becoming increasingly rare. This is a photo of a wilddog that had somehow broken its leg in the Kruger National park in South Africa and had ended up being rescued and taken to a rehab centre. He has made a remarkable recovery but not 100%. To release him back to the wild would mean certain death, so he remains at the rehab centre as an ambassador for his species and helps to highlight the uncertain future dogs face in the wild, mainly due to a lack of habitat. On feeding day he gets very excited and I caught this shot of him as he rushed forward to claim his meal.

IMHO you have captured the spirit of these dogs in this photo. Very well done. I like the intense look on the dogs face. thanks for sharing.

Now that is an different take on wildlife photography using 1/20 sec for a blur effect. I like that you can just see enough detail in the face and from reading your comments it appears he is very happy about getting his meal. Wonderful image, well done.

Technically a well executed motion blur image Stu. The head is sharp whilst the action/movement is clear from the blurred BG and legs. :toast:

With this image you have me salivating all the more for my upcoming trip Stu, perhaps even more than this wonderfully boisterous looking Wilddog in anticipation of his next meal ;^p

Is the "rehab centre" you're referring to the same one I'll be visiting?

BTW, the Bangkok trip was a success! Tell you all about it in tomorrow's EM ;^)
