Been fidgeting with this one for over a year. The B&W version prints up pretty well.

Wonderful sky and reflection, and the mountain anchors the image nicely.

Great depth to the image. The sky really makes the image for me and the little bit of color on the horizon is nice.

looking at this version I thought you needed to open up the f/g shadow, but looking at the larger one - wow! Really like the mood in that lower section and the reflection is great.

I like the comp and the light looks promising. On my monitor it seems a bit underexposed.

fab sky and reflection - I think it's a little too dark overall also.

What a wonderful sky with just enough land to connect to reality. Given how much the bit of color on the horizon adds, it's hard for me to see how a bw conversion would benefit. The sky seems a bit dark.

How can someone not love a photo from Trillium? Or not enjoy its beauty being there? One of my favorite memories in life has been the numerous times I came here in the off season and I was the only one there to watch the sun set (as apposed to the crouds in summer). The silence. The sheer magnitude. IMO this is certainly one of the top lakes in the world for sheer scenic beauty. Sure, we all know it is WAY over shot (at least shot and promoted in Oregon). But the rest of the world, and the actual photography market (at least what my marketing tests suggest) has most often not seen it, and does not know where this is.

I like the shot and its quiet dark approach. I don't think it would be a top seller because people don't gravitate toward dark photos. But for me the image brings me great peace and a longing to be able to come here at any whim again, soon, once I move back to OR.

Thanks very much for posting it! :toast:

A beautiful place, and this image carries a lot of tranquility with it. I do find it too dark (even the lightened version). It's not necessarily that the image is too dark, but the tones are all clumped together - there's not much contrast in the clouds (the main focus of the image) - more contrast would help draw me in more (and, IMO, appear more natural).
