I like this a lot Nancy. Seems to me you did a great job of handling the dynamic range. The bright grass under the log seems bright without being blown out and the shadow of the log works for me too. I also like the composition. I suppose if I had to find a nit, I'd like a little more room on the viewers right. Very fine image for my tastes.

Nancy:
I like the scene here and the log in the bg providing an anchor. However I find the bright light under the log a little distracting and although not blown would probably be more soothing if toned down a little.

Nice environmental shot. My only small nit, would be the bright BG under the log.

A very nice portrait. Remember to always simplify, move in closer, check your background.

What a beautiful scene! The dark log on the BG works great, and the bright grasses behind the log are not really blown out, and they kind of set the scene in a bright environment, so the brightness does not bother me. I too would like a bit more room on the right, but otherwise, this comp really works well.
One thing that could make this even better is getting it all in focus. (Bright blooms on the right look a bit soft.) Since blurring the close background is not possible, shooting wide open give you no advantage other than a faster shutter speed. You could have used aperture priority and stopped down to f/8 instead of f/2.8. That would require a tripod or bracing the camera on a log or rock, but all the flowers would be in sharp focus.

Nancy: Wonderful scene and a fine capture. I can see toning down the BG grasses but I do like that they are included. Delightful image.>=))>
