Must be feelin' slightly sentimental on V-Day 2011. Anyway, here's a symbolic flower to consider.. for anyone so inclined! Taken with 35mm Canon FTB and macro lens.

Jeff: Nice comp and a fine result. I like the lighting. I do wish the larger version really was. I do like the shot in the larger version because of the white BG. The black BG here doesn't work for me in the RUC where the image kind of blends in.>=))>

Jeff, while the lighting here is a plus in some ways, it's also a minus in others. It really shows off the main subject, but at the same time, it creates too many distracting light and dark areas in the BG. I might have tried a little housework and tried to rearrange the main heart so that it draped in front of the OOF leaves. Nice composition. :wavey:

I like your flower for St. Valentine's day. IMO, the leaves and shadows draw the eye away from the subject flower.

Jeff,

I love the backlighting in this on the subject. The bg, is a bit busy for my tastes but the great light and the complementary colors are very appealing.

The texture and color of the backlit hearts are terrific. :jump:
