Beachstones II

Found these stones along a beach in Olympic National Park a couple of years ago. I believe I posted a similar image (one of my first attempts at processing a scanned image) soon after joining NPN. Having hopefully learned a little since then, I have attempted to bring out (maybe wring out) detail, texture and color. Would very much like to read what you folks think of the result.
4x5, 210mm, warm polarizer, Velvia 100, f32.6, 1sec. The ever invaluable TK masks were used plus others.

Large image provided; looks much better.

Appreciate your thoughts, suggestions, ideas, comments.
Thank you.

These "silent stones" are telling the story of the seashore. It's a beautiful image with great colors and organization.

This is fantastic - love the color and the fine detail - and such a unique subject/composition. As far as processing I think you've got the luminosity range spot on as well as most of the colors. The only thing I see is maybe a slight green (and maybe slightly cyan) cast - I'm not sure if it's an actual color cast or if it's just the color inherent in some of the rocks (the top and left side rocks), but it might seem more natural with slightly different color. ---- The rocks/sand sparkle in the larger version looks amazing, great job overall!

Beautiful image Vance. Loved the cool-toned blue pebbles surrounded by the warmer rocks look lovely. For my tastes I might crop off the top half of the image and retain the bottom half which forms an independent image on its own.

A beauty, Vance! Although, if it were mine, I'd consider pulling back the yellows a tad...

You these intimate scenes so well. I think your strongest side in LF photography, but all your other scenes manage to move me. Love the golden color contrasting with the blue pebbles. A fascinating viewing experience.

As always, you've turned a rather ordinary view into an intimate, interesting, and perfectly balanced image. Nice one!

I like the shapes and textures created by the elements and light as well at the textures created by the color. It takes a good eye to see light like this and the potential it holds. This is well done all around.

Vance,
You did an excellent job wringing out texture and color. I really like the diagonals in the scene and the cool rocks contrast well with the red in the scene. :toast:
