Rock Art

Inspired by the many excellent abstract rock/lichen/ice close up types of photo's uploaded to this site I thought I would give it a go myself.

This is a section of pillow lava from Llanddwyn Island on Anglesey in North Wales. It was raining when I took this, hence the slight sheen.

I used Tony K's make it glow action on this (twice) and really liked the boost in saturation.

D700, 16-35mm. 1.6 sec @ f/18, iso 200.

All feedback, good or bad is welcome and thanks for looking.

Gary.

Hi Gary,

I love the bold, puzzle like, composition of the rocks. Personally, the colors in this image don't resonate as much with me as some of your previous postings, which have a more natural feel to them. I hope you are having a great new year.

Colorful rocks. The composition is not really grabbing me as much though.

Now that's some color! Amazing. Also the cracks work great to add structure and interest.

I think a tighter take might be a litle stronger, probably off of the top. The yellowish stripes really draw me in, so I might crop below the upper crack. The colors are fascinating, especially if they truely reflect this rock's colors. Great stuff here.

Cheers Dietrich and Harry,

Harry, all the colours were there but have been lifted a lot by TK's make it glow action.

Thanks, Gary.
