Sandhills at Sunset

I know alot of people have been to or are going to Bosque Del Apache this year and wish I were too. I did go in 2008 for my 1st time and had a very memorable time there. It is something that I am looking forward to doing again in 2011.

This was shot at sunset as the sandills were flying back to the pools at around 8:15pm on 11/24/2008. I cropped this to a pano cutting off mostly from the top.

I like the color and the fact that you captured all in full wing extension. To me great color, wing tips, skyline and heads make this shot. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful capture - - its so tough to get that many birds in one shot where they're all separate, sharp and posed so nicely. That, on top of a glorious sky. Well done.

How did you get them to cooperate so well? I too would like to try to make Bosque in 2011 also. Very nicely done.

Sweet image, Doug. I really like the colors of the sunset, and the landing poses of the cranes. The crop works very well. :toast:

A terrific capture against a lovely sky. Well done. Amazingly sharp on all seven birds considering your f-stop.

Hi Doug: The symmetry of this image really works well. Your pano crop emphasizes it even more. Nicely captured and presented.

Love it. Great overall feeling to this shot. Love how all the cranes are separated nicely. Not easy to find birds so cooperative.
