Autumn Showers

While I like to visit and photograph the icons (they're famous for a reason), finding new ways to interpret locations is what I find most rewarding. I found this composition scouting one day but the light was never quite right. I had envisioned some nice soft light on the peaks as being perfect for the scene and I returned several times to try to capture this. Just as I was about to leave the region on my last day, a combination of soft blue light and rain made it even more irresistible. One of my favourites from the trip.

But hey, as you know, tastes vary, so ill get to the point: The comp just doesnt gel for me. Thje water crosees straight cross the vertical, so it has me crying for more on the left and on the right, since it doesnt lead me anywhere. Technically its great, and the mood is great, great scene, but that one flaw bugs me. A crop from the bottom to remove some of that blockiness (the strip at the bottom acts as a disconnect for me) would probably address most of my concerns.
