Exclamation Sunset

In the area of Page/Lake Powell in 2009. Been snooping around my archives lately and found this one. The colors are real but quite outlandish. We waited endlessly in hope of a sunset, were about ready to pack up, and then this flare of color for about 5 minutes.
Would like to know if the depth of the landscape can be appreciated or if all I've got here is surreal color... Thanks for your thoughts.

The light is indeed beautiful. I love the detail in the landscape, perhaps because it feels familiar and inviting to me. The composition is subtle, with the foreground "saddle" acting as a focal point. I like it, though I think it could use a stronger foreground. I am curious why you decided on ISO 800 when working from a tripod.

Awesome light and a beautiful capture for sure. I quite like the subtle foreground myself but have more trouble with the less interesting expanse of middle ground. I'm thinking a crop from the left?

The amazing and very real colors are what makes this shot so dramatic. Very, very nice!!

This is a great colour palette Catherine. I think you have done a good job of showing the vastness of the landscape. Not sure at this size if it's noise or over sharpening in the sky, You might want to look at that. I like the fallen rocks through out, you have a lot of little details to look at , great. Cheers

Real pretty Catherine! I love the depth and detail here, works very well with the soft but vibrant colors. I might have liked a tiny bit more of the rhs, but thats being super picky. :wavey:

Fantastic color and I do like the composition. To give more depth I'd burn in the downward sloping rock at the very bottom and a little bit of the hillside at the left edge of the large cliff.
