Another Mockingbird shot.Sorry
In this shot, the bird has just got a drink, and made a hard left.
As I said in one of my last posts, these birds are fun to watch.
Today I observed the young males attack significantly larger birds, the blue jay and doves here. They come at em' quick & hard, then make a fast get away..
I got close on those, but no cigar

I realize the beak is partly lost to the background here, but I like the water that is flying about the bird in this one. Also, the background is naturally sloped left.
F/6.3, 1/2000th, ISO 640, Canon 1D M3, 300mm f/2.8 + 1.4x ext and natural early morning light. 20% crop

Nice and sharp with a beautiful outspread wing pose, Howard. A better background would have made this a great shot. Anyway, it is a fine capture as is too. :toast:

Won't get tired of seeing flight shots of non-raptors and non-wading birds which are so very few and far between. Awesome extension.

I like the action of the Little Mocker just wish for a better background, the upper portion just being a bit dark. Ron

Howard, even for a flying cow shot I'd be trying to figure out what would make the whole image more perfect. It's all from my own viewpoint, of course. Also, it's all tentative -- subject to change as I learn more. From the comments on your image, it's easy to see that many photographers are not as concerned about the background as am I. Also, to repeat my comment: it's a fine capture as is. No offense intended.

Howard,
I saw a lot of Mockingbirds last summer, but I could not take one in flight so well.
Beautiful flight shot with the curved body which really gives the impression of the effort to overcome the force of gravity. :toast: :wavey:
