Merced Color

Just returned from Yosemite Valley. The workshop was great and the conditions could not have been better...well the colors were just starting to peak, and are probably peaking as I type. This was along the Merced River just at the Pohono Bridge in the rain. I love working in the rain, everyone else is under shelter and afraid to melt in the rain. We just kept working right on through. I love the Happiest Place on Earth

This image was captured on digital, the 4x5 is on its way! Can't wait!

Comments and critiques welcome as always.

Youssef,

Dang-it, I had thoughts of this spot for this Thursday afternoon.... I guess I'll have to find a different spot.

You know I love this kind of imagery and this image brings me right there... I'll be there in about 15 hours or so. The Yosemite autumn colors are typical here, but I'm really drawn to the greens in the Merced complimenting the scene. I love this one Youssef.

And I'm right there with you on this being the Happiest Place. I'll quote my Dad and say that he has always said that Yosemite is my "Nirvana." I think he's right.

If I had to be picky, I'd say I could do without the fallen branch on the left, but that's really not a distraction and certainly a found scene.

Love it.

Thanks Lon. I love this very spot and photograph it every time I am there and get unique results as well. The rain definitely made for a more colorful image saturating everything and with the soft overcast light the shadows opened up nicely.

I almost had a clear schedule for tomorrow and was planning to return but a last minute addition was added to my schedule. I think you will find the colors in the valley exploding by the time you arrive. Ahhh...I just want to go back there...I already miss it!

I've never been there so I can't speak to this being the happiest place on earth but looking at this it would have a strong argument to support that claim. Beautiful Youssef.

Stunning, Youssef. Absolutely stunning. Exquisite composition and color. The 4x5's of this will be beyond amazing I'm sure. Wow.

Your joy at photographing the "Happiest Place on Earth" always come through in your photos! I guess I will have to get out in the rain more often!!

Gorgeous scene. Nice color and light. I also would dodge the branch on the left and the white water against the right border.

Great shot Youssef. Richly saturated and very nicely composed. Lon mentioned the fallen branch, but I actually like that element as it adds a touch of reality to the scene. Lovely water movement - wish there was a little more water in the FG, but that's minor. All in all, a real winner.

Gorgeous. Nothing like rain to bring out the saturation.

I knew this was yours before even looking for a name. That's a good thing, by the way. Gorgeous image, Youssef. I love the complexity of this forest and how the leaves pop from the background.

I really like this scene Youssef! Very beautifully composed and the look of the wet foliage adds to the appeal.

Very beautiful scene. During my recent visit I wandered amongst some of the color near Pohono Bridge but ultimately never found a scene/composition that really blew me away. I would have gladly taken this!

Not that this is iconic, but you just know this is the banks of the Merced running through the valey. I too love these scenes and have yet to capture it effectively. This nis beautiful, I enjoy it a lot. I will also be there this coming weekend. I hope to give it another go.
