What a terrific wing stretch! Great pose, and I like the intense look he seems to have.

Whatever the pose, and this is a really good one, shrikes are the meanest looking of small birds, raptor wannabes, and this shows it perfectly. Exactly what portraits are meant to do.

Nice image. I love these birds. The eye can be tricky with that black mask. You have captured it very well. There is a slight gray cast to the sky-of course the bird is gray and black and you can't see it in him. Or, maybe this is just the way it was. Either way. A great image.

I have shriked that pose myself on a few mornings. Good detail and I like the simplicity!

Hi Sharon,
Shrikes are one of my favourite species of bird and are my main target this autumn, so if I come away with a shot as good as this I will be well pleased, no nits from me whatsoever.

"The Little Bird Who wanted to be a Falcon".
You did capture a very intentfull look, even the body position looks full of intent, a still shot of something about to happen. Very good portrait of a deadly passerine.
