Real nice view of this gull. I think it needs a little ccw rotation ...if you line up the reflection on the left leg to vertical. Good dof and I like the water rolling in behind. I remember well the surprises the beaches of Sanibel would bring! Sharon

Nice crisp focus, Richard. I like the raised foot. Nice light and exposure. I agree on the rotation.

Good exposure in sweet light. I'd like a slightly lower angle to give it more pop. The implied action with the lifted foot is very nice. I see the point Sharon and Dennis have on rotation, but I suspect it's an optical illusion from the sloped beach. Still might be worth a try.

It's a good loking image, Richard. I too like the birds pose and I think Jim has hit the nail on the head re the rotation.

Richard,
I like the raised foot of the gull and the setting. Are you globally sharpening your images? I ask because the background of the larger image looks grainy and that can sometimes happen when an image is sharpened globally instead of selectively sharpening just the bird. It is easy to fix. One other suggestion is to crop the bottom of the image to just above the OOF shell in the lower right hand corner.
