Olive Sparrow with Repost

This is photo of Olive Sparrow taken at a local city park on a Saturday morning. They are commonly heard singing in the thickets but are hard to see or photograph. I lucked out with this little guy as he gave me several views. It was quite dark behind the sparrow and I don't have much experience with flash use (if that's what would make image better). Your comments are greatly appreciated

Hi Carlos, if this is cropped and you have the space I would add back in space on the left and on top of the bird for 2 reasons, the first being he feels a bit cramped in the frame (particularly on the left) and the second being that there's not much feather detail showing which is often the result of a large crop. It's a neat and uncommon species so worth reworking I think. :toast:

Hi Carlos. I don't think that flash would have helped a dark background. If the bird was in the dark, that's another matter (ps. check out some of Ronnie Gaubert's photos and info re "flash"). Some twitting or pishing might have got you a turn of the head (or scared him away.. ) A really unique looking sparrow. Where was this photographed Carlos?

Carlos,

I think this is an interesting pose and I like the spread of the tail. I would like to see more room around the sparrow as this feels a bit on the tight side. The larger image shows some softness and lack of fine detail along with a bit of noise. I've never seen one of these and would love the chance to photograph them

Great pose and nice colors. I agree with more room all around but especially on the left.

Hi, Carlos
I also agree about the bird being a bit tight in the frame, but it's a neat pose and a lovely little bird. I, too, am wondering where these are found.

I added more space to the left and top of the bird. These birds are found in South Texas and this particular bird was photographed in Laredo, Texas The pishing techniques was helpful in keeping the bird around long enough to get this and other images that I may post in the future. Thanks for the kind suggestions and comments.

The repost looks a lot better Carlos, I would also add back about a half an inch on the right if you have it in the original as the tail is very close to the edge of the frame (I should have mentioned that in my first post).
