A few minutes before the previous post - you can see two solitary sandpipers in the background.

Nikon D300s 300 f4 + 1.7X TC HH
f/6.7
1/1000s
ISO 640
-.67 EC

Minor crop for composition, sharpened bird, shadow/highlight on white feathers.

I like this a lot Luke both for the infocus bird and the oof background birds, neat composition. My first thought was Greater Yellowlegs but they are tough to ID. :toast:

This is very cool, the hint of secondary subjects adds to the beauty of the photo. Great lighting, love the long shadows. :toast:

Luke,

I love the alert pose of the lesser yellowlegs, the setting and your low angle. I like how you have the two OOF sandpipers in the background, I might consider toning down the white of the bird on the left side of the frame slightly. Love the eye contact and how nicely the bill stands out from the background

I love the pose, like the bird is surprised. Nice exposure on the whites. I too like the inclusion of the other birds in the background to add a sense of place as well as the green vegetation on the water.

The yellowlegs looks great Luke and while I'm generally not fond of OOF background birds, in this case they're soft and unobtrusive enough to work just fine for me.

I like this very much. Beautifully lit and composed scene. The only slight distraction for me is the patch of red just above the left OOF bird - I'd be tempted to tone it down a little.

Great shot Luke, love the habitat and OOF birds. I'd agree with what's been suggested for improvement.
