As usual, I'm completely intimidated by so many amazing animal photos in this forum but I don't often get a chance to get up close and personal wildlife photos due to the limitations of my camera so I thought I'd share this rare opportunity for me.

A cow and calf browsing on the fall foliage roughly 50 miles south of Delta Junction, Alaska. They were mostly in the shade and it was later in the evening and my camera doesn't do well with higher ISO's so I was lucky to get a fairly crisp shot. Fortunately, they weren't moving very fast.

Nice shot. I would have liked to see the cows head up some, but that is just me. I like the amount of habitat you have included. thanks for sharing.

Great Shot, great colors...I like the way the frame is filled with mom and calf.

Hi Gary,

To my eye the major "issues" with this image are more related to camera limitations than to photographer limitations! For instance, your exposure looks just fine to me, but the darker shaded regions on the both of the moose (mooses? mice? meese?) seem to have almost no detail, and to me it looks like it's a matter of a narrow dynamic range of your image sensor. But from a compositional perspective I like the shot - and the fact that both meese appear relaxed is a bonus!

Cheers...

Brad

PS: Just kidding about the meese...

I like the similar poses between the two and the colors of the surrounding brush. This would make a nice candidate for a painting.
