Great color and tons of depth to this shot Ian. I like the 'attitude' of the flower, looking up.

Excellent photo. Color, sharpness, point of view and in camera crop all contribute to a winner.

Ian, something funky is going on with the colors on my monitor... seem to be "muddy." I don't know what could be the cause, but definitely has lost its pristine brilliance. Otherwise a nice presentation and comp. Love dahlias and hope to post some soon.

Ian, when I saw the thumbnail image I said to myself here's another beauty. When I opened the image I see a wonderful composition and the POV is very appealing. However, somewhere along the line the colour luminosity/brilliance seems to have been muted. Not sure if that's the plant's natural colour scheme?

It seems I may have lost some vibrancy in the compression for some reason, so I am reposting with a slight boost. It may depend on people's monitors ( on mine the thumb doesn't look too good, though the larger version is ok ) but is this better for colour ?

I actually thought the original looked ok (a bit muted, but I assumed that was a conscious decision), but the repost really shines. Great shot. Congrats on your recent EP!

The boost works in the repost. I can see some compression artifacts so perhaps that was the reason for colour muting.

Ian,

The original looked a little muted but nothing strange or bizarre. I prefer the repost but only marginally so. I wonder if the strangeness Patricia and Bob saw is browser related.

In any event, this gorgeous. Strong comp, beautiful light, rich color and a superb subject. Beautiful work.

Wonderful job here Ian, I love the visual "feel" of the soft petals. Great natural color too! Well done!

I thought the original post looked fine but the second post looks much better, IMO. Nice work.

Nice image. It has a interesting graphic look to it that I haven't seen before. The colors don't look muted as others have stated but there's a "rough" texture to it that I find odd but not unappealing. The repost seems smoother but still has a rough texture to it.

Hi Ian :wavey: This is a beautiful composition, with stunning color and lines!! I never saw the original flower, so i can't comment on the "right' color  The second post is a bit more vivid. I love them both :toast:
