Gem Lakes

I photographed this scene last weekend at Gem Lakes in Little Lakes Valley. I liked the backlight on the trees, the color of the water (which seemed to come out best in direct sunlight) and the tree shadows on the water. I'm looking forward to making a few return trips to this spot when my son is old enough for short backpacking trips. 5d2, 24-105 @88, f/14, 1/5 sec.

Gorgeous, Scott. Neat how you got such a good reflection with partially sunlit water. Great colors and the backlighting works great here.

Perfect backlighting, and I agree that the water color with the tree reflections is very nice. I'd darken those white background rocks a bit to let the backlit trees stand out even more.

Beautiful scene. You can try to add a bit of warmth to the highlights, but other than that, no nits

Great afternoon light here Scott. The light can light up the water at times.
There's a small unamed lake over the ridge there too.

You captured great and refreshing colors, like an invitation to walk around there. Maybe I desire some more space at the top just above the delicately lightened trees, but this is only a minor suggestion.
