I almost missed these plover eggs nestled in the rocks of my barn road. I love that she chose small stones around the eggs and larger stones around those....like she was framing the eggs.

I hope you don't mind my framing this photo. I wanted to bring out the colors of the stones.

Lucy, this is quite a find. Quite a nest! I wonder why stones rather than a traditional "scratch" nest? This was not put together so much as designed. Great post!

Excellent find, Lucy. Well done!

Can I ask which plover species?

Great find, your frame around the framed nest is a good touch.

Wasn't sure what I was going to see here from the small shot, but this is pretty neat! Very interesting with the stones......thanks for sharing this one.

The Plover eggs I found were from the kildeer....very common wandering around the pastures.
I've seen nests in dirt, but, this is the first one I've seen make a nest in rocks. Although, several sites on the internet show kildeer nesting in pebbles....none are
"arranged" so artfully by size of pebble, like this one.

Hi Lucy, it's a miracle that you found these eggs and didn't step on them by accident, they're so well camouflaged, isn't nature wonderful.
Keep up the good work

Thanks for your welcome email, very nice of you
Well done.
Geoff.
