Lupine and Corn Lily

Ok, Bill has prodded me enough in recent times, so I thought I better drop in and say hi. I should also lead by example as this one here is more appropriate in Flora. And to come here and see Youssef posting too! There is always wonderful images posted here in Flora.

Alas though, this is not a 4x5. I captured this using my Panasonic pt-n-shoot, hand-held. Turns out I really liked this little capture and am sorry now that I didn't get this scene with the 4x5! Took some liberties in PS with saturation and also a bit of an Orton layer and TK's masks and luminosity painting - Please let me know if you think the color/sat is too strong.

Your opinions and feedback are most appreciated.

Lon

Welcome to Flora. Never get tired with these images, especially with the touch of color throughout. If I had a choice I think I would eliminate the white blooms and just leave the touch of blue within the green waves. The color saturation looks fine on my monitor. Hope you post more often. :wavey:

As with all your work, it's a fine composition, although I agree with Patricia's comment about eliminating the unbloomed, lighter flower and just leave green and purples in the scene. I don't have my calibrator hooked up at the moment, but I think the colors look mighty fine. The lighting is superb. Definitely post in flora more often!

Well composed and the color saturation works for me.

Works fine for me. I like the white blossom, having never seen a corn lily. Sometimes comp and color just aren't enough. Sometimes, adding to someone's knowledge is equally valid.

Fabulous Lon! Such a strong comp with great light, the variety of greens and plant forms making it that much more interesting and the blue, blue, blue lupin! Bold color but not over the top for me. Super shot. And you, with a point-n-shoot and posting in Flora! Wonders never cease, thank goodness. Love it that you posted here in the best flora forum on the planet.

Lon: You are officially off my stink list with this one! Really beautiful color palette and for my tastes the processing is most excellent. Great scene superbly captured and rendered. >=))>

Lon,

Composition is wonderful and those shades of green amazing. Looks pretty good for a P&S, and on the web you couldn't tell it was not made with the 4x5. The web is so misleading with regards to real image quality, too bad. :frown:

Great mood and light Lon. Love the tones, hues and textures as well as the darkness in the image. Beautiful image. No suggestions.

Nice "capture" with the P&S, Lon! Too bad you did not get this sweet image with a real camera.

Beautiful image. Saturation looks very good to me. I like the feeling of depth and the lupine blooms interspersed with the corn lily leaves. 4x5 or not, a very nice capture.

Lon, you definitely caught some sweet light, color and detail through this pretty little scene. Beautifully done as always.

I love images of corn lilies but throwing lupine into the mix puts it over the top. I can just imagine what a 4X5 trannie of this would have looked like on the light table..... :wavey:

Hi Lon :wavey: : The proof is in the pudding ...... the camera does not make the image, It's the photographer. But the pt-n- shoot camers do have super DOF .... Love this composition, along with the vibrant green tones and amazing light. :toast:
