Beautiful Impasse

I took this photo last night just before sunset when the upper winds were creating some crazy soft, dispersed clouds. I was in a valley under Mt. Bolton some 35km northwest of Kitimat, B.C. Canada in the Great Bear rainforest. I couldn't believe the greenery here. It was so thick and there was bear sign everywhere. I wouldn't want to try running from a grizzly in this stuff. All the thick bush around here makes composition difficult at times. You almost have to climb to find a clear patch of rock to set up on.

I like the different tones of green in this image. It does indeed look very lush. Your comp is nice as well.

I really like the colors and light here. Wish there were a bit more sky as that's really spectacular.

Doug,

I really like the composition here and I'm with the others that this really does capture the greens and "lushness" of this "habitat." In fact, all you need is a big griz parading through the brush...

Colors seem right on. I do think you're losing some sharp details due to compression, but that's to be expected. In the end, it's a very pretty and nicely captured scene, but I'm looking for that one additional element to really keep me interested. Whether it's that grizzly, a streak of light, a mountain goat atop a big boulder.... Still, a very nicely captured image.

I wouldn't want to try running from a grizzly under any circumstances.

You've gone with some intense greens to reflect your impression of the place, and I like that because they have such a nice variety in hue. The sky, though it doesn't look unnatural necessarily, looks at least a little odd on my monitor.

What a view! You've done a good job portraying the lushness of this place. The color in the sky looks a little off to me as well - my only nit.
