Artistic Cascades

A photograph of a fabulous waterfall in Scotland...I've been to the area many times but didn't know it existed (so not many photos exist of it). It doesn't look like much from a distance but closer up it is multi-faceted with lots of different flows and compositions...worth another visit at a different time of year.

The shot shown consists of three rows of five shots (total of 15 shots) all taken at 70mm, f29 (to get a nice flow at 1/3 second). Thanks for comments.

Ian

I think this is quite a nice shot. It feels slightly cramped to me though, and I'm a sucker for vignettes. For my taste, I would add a subtle vignette on the top to keep my eye in the image. Looks like a goldmine of a spot. I bet there's 100 compositions on this cascading wall.

I'm surprised this one doesn't have more comments. It's just beautiful! I love all the different directions in which the water is running - keeps my eyes moving around the frame and interested. Your chosen SS is perfect (IMO) and if this is a B/W treatment, you did a great job on the conversion. I'd go back to this spot numerous times and work all the different comps that are possible. Nice work!

B&W works great here. This becomes almost abstract. The water reminds me of lightening.

Ian,

Excellent, intimate view of these falls. I really like the arrangement of the cascades where the water is heavier the left, less so on the right, and just so... in the middle. Basically, I think this is nicely balanced, even though there is more water on the left. Makes sense to me anyway. Eva's "delicate" comment came to my mind as well. The processing is just right too; nice contrast, but not too heavy and just enough detail in the dark areas to keep the viewer engaged. Well done Ian.

This is great. There's nothing I don't like about it just as it's presented here. I think lightening shadows a little while keeping all the blacks has the slightest potential to offer improvement, but the conversion already looks great, and we just have to guess at how awesome the detail must be.
