Shadow in the Sky

This desert sunset includes the shadow of 12K peak coming from behind me. The challenge was to find a decent foreground and eliminate other distractions before the light was gone. Which happened a few minutes after this shot. The mountain has significance to Native Americans, adding to the drama? Taken on the Schurz Reservation, NV. I just couldn't pass up that shadow in the sky. C&Cs always welcome.

This is very cool. Love the shadow. Usually a flat area like the foreground isn't too interesting, but this works. Perhaps it's an illusion, but it seems to be tilted a little CCW.

Very interesting shadow you found, Russ, and I think the foreground worked fine for you in this case. Beautiful warm and cool colors...

Shots like this really fascinate me. The shadow of the mountain really give a sense of scale. I love how it stretches to the opposite horizon. You've found a pretty good foreground here for a spur of the moment shot.

Your picture is dramatic and serene at the same time! The foreground is telling us much about the atmosphere.
