Bridled Titmouse

Canon 7D, 500mm f/4 + 1.4x, monopod.

1/1600, f/6.3, ISO 400

Crop to 57% (10.2 of 18MP)

This Bridled Titmouse was shot 13 Mar 2010 at Montezuma Well National Monument. I like the acrobatic feeding pose here, and although it's hard to see, there is a spider in the bird's bill. Not a lot of detail in the dark throat, and I can't seem to get more with it looking natural. The other obvious nit is the oof branch across the tail.

Comments and critiques appreciated. Please view larger version if possible.

There are plenty of attributes for this image, Brian: neat pose, beautiful clear eye complete with catchlight, the little spider, fine detail in the whites. Dynamic acrobat capture! :toast:

You managed to catch a fun pose. You have covered the minor deficiencies yourself. The setting feels wintery to me, perhaps just that sky color is what I'm interpreting. A different sort of photo, we need more "different' sometimes. :toast:

Brian,
I really like the acrobatic pose of the bird, the catchlight and the little spider in the bill. Very nice shot!

Looks like very harsh light, but what a great pose. Sharon
