Three great egrets perch in the remains of an oak tree killed long ago by salt water intrusion. The marshes are dotted with these relics that are slowly eroding away. Early morning, not too distant rain clouds give a little color to the background.

David, I love the gradient BG in this. Did you add to the effect in processing? Or was it all natural? Either way, it is cool and has an artistic quality about it.

Beautiful image. I've looked for silhouettes like this on occasion and never had any luck. They posed wonderfully for you.

Excellent, David. These three couldn't have been in better positions and poses than they are - nice that they are all looking into the frame like this. And that's as good a perch as one could wish for. Good work!

Thanks to everyone for the feedback. I waited quite a while for a frame with all three birds in profile at once because I knew that would be the difference maker. The gradient is natural,,,,,this is full frame with just very basic processing.

I missed this originally. Congrats on the WP and this is a really fine shot - I've taken photos of similar scenes, but nothing like this.

I like how simple the scene is. Nothing takes away from the three egrets. I also like how the one on the left help balance the scene. Very nice job.
