Falling Shadows

The shadows from the late-morning sun caught my eye on the side of this fairly steep hillside. Liked the striped pattern created in the snow, and some of the buckling of the ice on bottom. f-4.0, ISO80 and 1/640th, shot a couple Sudays ago. C&C always welcomed, thanks for looking!

This is a nice one Bill... I love the shadows and the cool colors. Compositionally, I think the slightly curved tree on the right side of the frame throws off the balance a bit. I'm assuming you captured more?

Bill - this is a tough one. I think if you focused more on the shadow and their graphic nature, it would have been a stronger comp. Here, I keep thinking what you are trying to show

Thanks Joel, that is a great point about the tree--I totally agree, can't believe I didn't see it. Yes, shot a few more and a vertical that i like. I just looked again Joel, out of the six captures, the one I posted is the only one with that tree on the right!!! Anyway, here is a B&W version I was playing with.

And thanks Arnab for your suggestion as well.

i like the shadows here. This is really a nice shot. I'd prefer the second post, though. Love the black & white conversion.

Nice and simple, a good play with the shadows.
