I´ve posted a horizontal composition of this scene in the past and wanted to read your oppinion about this one.

This is a sunrise. I feel asleep in my tent, and the sunrise was very advanced when i woke up, i ran 800 yards to this location, fortunately i arrived on time.

Cerro Torre and glacier Torre, Patagonia Argentina.

5D / 70-200 / polarizer

All feedback is appreciated.

Vertical works for me! I love the golden light. The tallest peak is kind of getting lost in the shadows; you might try to brighten it just a tad because it adds a lot to the photo.

I remember quite well the horiz comp, this looks better, imo. great drama and the warm colors here are very nice. what a unique place this must be, I imagine patagonia must be beautiful! I´ll go along John´s thoughts about the top peak and sky, wouldn´t mind if there were a tad more light there. well done, ricardo, great comp!

quite a bit past sunrise, I'd say, but still a good photo. I like the cloud, and the fact that just the peak is visible.

Vertical is a winner here. I would too tone up a little the clouds. The light is really fantastic, and I lilke very much the tight composition. Bien hecho Ricardo!! ;-)

I like this one as well. I agree to brighten the peak just a tad. otherwise I really love the warm golden light. The vetical comp works for me, too.

The vertical adds to the sense of majesty, scale, and height. A very dramatic shot.

Thanks to all for the feedback!

I think the dark sky and cloud is due to a cloud blocking the sun partially on the oposite side (behind me), because i didn´t touch any exposure settings of the raw file, it´s pretty staight out of the camera. I think the polarizer helped to dark the sky even more. As you all suggested i´ll brighten a little the top part and see how it looks.

@Arnab: here´s the horizontal composition for you to compare, 2 minutes before.

This looks very dramatic and I like the brown tones... it feels different and interesting. Great detail everywhere. I think that vertical version looks right on for this scene. Well done, Ricardo.

love the vertical take on this; the tight framing works well. you could try lightening the top a little. superb, though and the light is wonderful.

While both comps are fantastic I favor the vertical because it emphasizes the grandeur of the mountain better. I really like the added drama with the cloud swirling around the peak. Wonderful mood and comp, Ricardo.
