Expressive snow...

We are really spoiled this winter with a lot of snow! This is so unusual for the Netherlands. This image I made last weekend in the dunes. I love how snow makes you notice a lot of things you normally go by. I know this piece of forest since I was a kid, but just now I saw the beautifully shaped branches. I converted to B&W as there was already almost no color in the image and I think it is more powerful this way.

It is amazing how a fresh snowfall can transform a scene which we might not look at twice ordinarily. The B&W conversion works beautifully here, Ellen. This is just a personal preference, but what do you think of cropping off a bit from the left side to eliminate some of the white sky? It keeps pulling me from all the wonderful details in the trees.

The b/w conversion works really well here. The snow and the bare trees really convey a sense of winter.

The snow is certainly transformative when it comes to delineating the branches. I could also imagine this with a bit tighter comp and less sky.
