Looks like you did a good job getting close to this species, which is always tough when it comes to grebes. The headturn is also a plus.

Unfortunately, there are 2 major problems I see.
1. The subject is crooked (the reflection should be on an even plane, and the water should not be spilling out toward the right), but this can easily be fixed with a CCW rotation.
2. There is a lot of grain in the reflection and particularly on the bottom right of the bird (the darkest area) which I'm guessing is the result of trying to bring out details using the shadow/highlight tool. I'd re-work the image and accept the loss of detail in those areas.

I like this shot Ron. Like Luke I would like to see the image leveled though. Though I've never seen this species of grebe it appears to me that the red of the eye is a bit over saturated.

a neat looking bird in good light. I do agree that it needs some CCW rotation, and the reds in the eye look hot.

Beautiful, Ron. Really lovely light and excellent detail. I like the back view with the head turn. The nits have been mentioned. :toast:

Guys, Thanks for the comments, I have taken on board what you have said and reworked the image and re-posted it here.

The eye is very red, this is natural and no adjustment made to the colour. Its this that attracts me to the species

I think the image is better now

Many thanks for you help
