No, not the band--the decade, silly!
I figure since 2009 was the year of the Dunes for me, might as well close off this year with a post from the GSDNP that i shot Saturday afternoon. Have a Great 2010, everyone!

Have a Happy New Year Stan!

Like this, seems a little different from your normal stuff. The lights and darks do it for me. :toast:

Beautiful golden light! I also really like the light and shadows here. I know it's pretty different, but it still kind of reminds me of the shots of dead trees against the giant dunes in namibia. Are there any trees around these dunes that could be isolated in something similar?

Stan,

Everything about this is perfect...the lighting, the composition, everything. You are the Dune Master.

You definitely caught some gorgeous light, and I'm hoping to see a lot more of the Dunes in 2010, you definitely have an eye for this very pretty place. Have a great New Year Stan.

Hi Stan

This has a very filmic look to it. Looks like very little processing has gone on and feels natural and vibrant. I like it a lot.

Happy New Year

Fantastic image. I love the backdrop, and the positioning of the tree in the frame really sets off the rest of the image.

I agree with everyone else. I'd also like to see one with just the dunes as almost an abstract. The light on the dunes is what makes the shot for me.

Stan,
Great details, textures, and lines. The light just screams winter, with it's wonderfully low angle. I've got one major complaint.... no larger image! This looks like it has some fabulous detail. I might like to see a crop that removes the orange bush from the midground on the far right, but this is beautiful. Have a great New Year. :wavey:

As Ian Cameron mentioned, this does very much look like a film shot. Great repeating diagonals juxtaposed against the vertical lines of the foreground. And of course, nice light too!

The dunes in this light sure are graphic. Foreground feels a bit distracting to me, but it does add context.

Nice shadow/light/shape capture. It would make a nice abstract if you cropped out the foreground and perhaps a bit from either side as well. Just an alternate idea.

I dunno Stan, this one just seems so "mechanical." (couldn't resist!)

This one here is gorgeous. The light creating the patterns and shadows on the dunes is sweet and I love the golden light on the foreground grasses. The tree has just enough separation with the warmly lit grasses to make it's inclusion an excellent touch. What is also excellent about this image is that it's not just about the dunes, but it's about the place, the environment in and around the dunes. Excellent work Stan.
