Improvements

2009 was a year of improvement for me. I get bored of things and hopefully pushed myself to not stay in the comfortable. I did revisit some old compositions with a big improvement in camera(20d to 5d2) to hopefully up the quality of prints. This is one of them. I actually took it while leading my Everglades Workshop. A nice sky obliged in just the spot I wanted.

Thanks again for a great year and I wish you all the best!

It's a beautiful shot Paul, very well seen and executed! Love the colors and the muted tones here. Wishing you a fun filled 2010 with tons of such great shots to add up to your portfolio!

the light is awesome as is the comp. I like it. i might suggest a tad less vignetting on the LLC to make it even with the RLC. nice work.

Nice, dont' often see a combination of pines and palms especially baby palms. Do you guys have date palms down there at Everglades? We have them in DV but they are non native.

Classic Marcellini! As much as I know it must have been thrilling for you to get out west, I love your Everglades work. Looking forward to more in 2010.

Steve, those are saw palmetto; home to ticks, guinea wasps, and rattlesnakes. Paul, it is a beautiful photograph. I have baked my brains in more places like this than I care to remember!

another lovely image of a very challenging landscape -- proving once again that you are no mere shuttermonkey!

Paul,
Great light and stillness. Two words came to mind when I first viewed this.... "snake boots". I've really enjoyed viewing your Everglade's images. It is a subtle but magical place that I don't get to visit as much as I used to as a kid. But, your images always bring back the feel and wonder of one of the world's great places. Thank You & Happy New Year!

Thanks everyone,

Debjit, good call, I will even that up.

Steve, in the Glades we have Sabal Palms, Royal Palms, Pourotis Palms, and Palmetto. Date palms are from the middle east and don't do so well in our humid climate.

Thanks again, and hope you all have had a great 2010 so far.

Very cool shot. Like Ian Plant said, it must be difficult to constantly come up with interesting and solid shots from this area. You really make it look special. Just to throw out a minor nit, the LHS seems overly dark to me.

Don't know how I missed this one, Paul. But it's delightful and indicitive of what draws us back and back to these lands.
