WC#411 - Deep Blue Brook
by Wayne Jones
Catching up after some time away from NPN, and I am amazed by all the beautiful images in this WC. It immediately made me think of this shot that my wife saved from the delete button. I didn’t think the leaf looked good, but she liked it just for the colors -- especially the deep blue reflection. I was actually shooting floating leaves against the fall foliage reflections in a brook when I followed this sugar maple leaf into a spot with no leaf reflections. All the reflections -- both trees and sky -- appeared dark and super-saturated (with no unusual post processing) as I exposed for the yellow leaves. This was the only shot I made without leaf reflections, but I’ll be sure to shoot more like this on a clear day next fall.

12 commentsMIRO, I didn't do anything at all other than press the shutter release. No filters. This was a little brook in a deeply shaded forest, and the reflected background consisted of fall leaves backlit by a deep blue clear afternoon sky. The Sun was behind me. I used just minimal saturation enhancement for the yellow leaf.
What liquid water you've captured. The isolated and color leaf is clean, crisp and intriguing.
Very nice.
