Good evening folks; thought I would post my first photo here and yes, there is mountain biking in Florida.

My location was near Ocala, Florida and I did some shooting for the promoter who was holding this race.

I set my equipment up at the top of an incline where the riders would have to slow down, allowing my extremely slow Tokina 80-200 F2.8 lens to work its magic. My camera was a Nikon F100 and I believe the film was Fuji 400 speed.

I liked this shot, and the rider was extremely nice in allowing me to use it in my portfolio [after a signed model release of course] in exchange for a copy.

This was one of my last shots, just before making the switch to digital.

Thank you gentlemen for the kind words.

FYI Jim, that girl's name is Shelly Allen from St. Pete. I was just thinking about it last night; this race was at Razorback and yes it was for the folks at Goneriding. They allowed me to photograph the race in exchange for some copies. I love mountain biking myself; I used to live 15 minutes from Santos trails, the best mountain biking in Florida.

BTW Jim, they have races at Santos; don't know about them now as I've been transferred to the Tampa area for my job.

The riders made the photo look intense; they were tired by the time they got to this incline and this made it really easy for me Martin.

Thanks Bill, I'm looking forward to contributing and all of you guys have set the bar pretty high with the quality of your images.

Santos use to be my most ridden trails,, been there hundreds of times,, yes Shelly Allen, I just showed my son the shot, he remembers her too and was friends with her son,, we did the circuit both Spring and Summer every year for years with them, raced every race and placed on the podiums with them every year,, what a great time that was, still have all my bikes, need to get back out there for sure !! :toast: :toast:

Hey Jim, I'll be up there next week to my father-in-law's for the holiday. I might try and take some photos of some of the trails and convert to B & W. There's some really great photo ops up there, not to mention the best mountain biking there is in Florida.

Get back on your bike and start riding man!!
