Wayne, this is great. Very nice whites on this bird. The legs are visible enough and the dark BG makes the bird really pop. Very nice detail in the feathers. Nice flight shot.

I like the flight pose you caught here Wayne with the head poking out between the wings. The whites look mostly good and I think the dark background works. A small nit would be the slight softness of the head but the wing looks good and that head would be a small focusing target. Perhaps more DOF would have helped - you had plenty of shutter speed to work with.

Wayne,

I think the darker background works very well with the Great Egret, I like the flight pose and how the wings are positioned which sown the wonderful texture the feathers create. The legs show details in them despite their darkness and the whites look nice too.

Love this photo. He almost appears to be trying to fly backward. The right wing is in better focus, so it may be motion that made the head soft rather than a DOF problem. Either way, excellent as is.

I am amazed that you did not blow those whites out, against the dark bg, Wayne! I would have! Excellent feather detail, too!

Excellent take off shot Wayne, boy these are tough exposures, the bird looks perfect here, the bg is always going to be a little dark to get the bird right. Well done Wayne :toast:
